About Us
Our Mission

Our mission at the Tahoe City Public Utility District is to serve people, our community, and its environment. It is our responsibility to provide safe and reliable water service, sewer service for the protection of public health, and parks and recreation services to enhance quality of life. It is our commitment to accomplish these and other tasks within the scope of the Public Utility District Act, as amended, in a sound fiscal manner.

History

Founded in 1938 as a public utility district, TCPUD became involved in parks and recreation in 1947 as a result of public interest in improving the maintenance and public access for Commons Beach. In the early 1960s the community requested that TCPUD begin recreation programming and services.

Separated by law from water and sewer fees, TCPUD receives ad valorem property tax to provide parks and recreation services. Over the last 70 years, TCPUD Parks and Recreation Department has tirelessly worked to provide programs, activities, and special events to enrich the lives of residents and those visiting throughout the year.

Parks & Recreation Committee Members

Two members of the Board of Directors make up the Parks & Recreation Committee. They hold monthly public meetings to review projects, programs, and updates on park and recreation items. See Board/Committee Agenda's and Minutes for more details.
